Expanding on the idea of the pavilion and appling it to the topiary strips, the shrubbed rectangles that bisect and separate traffic on Wilshire Boulevard. Marking the green belts, the SAS transforms the function of these medians into public pavilions. The pavilion(s) at Wilshire Boulevard will be marked by the placement of life-size immigrant crossing signs, or more precisely, the “cut outs” of the figurative element of each sign.
